it really is fairly simple.
Introducing homemade solid baby food to your baby’s diet will have many benefits. Improved quality, less additive and sugar are just a few. Financially, commercial baby foods are about three times the cost of “standard” foods. You will also be introducing a wide variety of foods that you will be preparing for yourself. The excellent introduction to a healthful selection may help you avoid the picky eating that plagues the toddler diet.
You should not need too much extra equipment. Most people will have pots and pans. A blender will not give you as fine puree as a food processer. A food mill is more economical that other options. Spend the least amount of money required to produce a satisfactory result.
Introduce the foods slowly. Use the
Four day rule,
one new food every four days. This will help isolate and identify any foods that your bay may be sensitive to.

A basic rule of thumb is start with rice cereal and move up from there.
Use good basic hygiene techniques in the kitchen to avoid introducing any “bugs” to you new baby. Hand washing and proper preparation of the food items is essential. Scrub all raw foods or vegetable prior to cooking. Be sure to fully cook all baby foods property prior to serving them or placing them in the freezer for use later. Remove any items that will not fully puree like skins and seeds. You do not want to have any items in the food that may present a choking hazard.
There are so many foods to choose from. Any items that you like, or do not like, are ok.
Let your baby try them!
Do not add too much liquid during the cooking process. You may add baby milk later to the puree so that it is not too thick. You will develop a feel for how much is enough as time goes by. Do not use any seasonings or sugar in the food. The natural taste is better on their taste buds and their bodies
Food maybe stored in small containers(like these) in the freezer for use later. You may also use ice cube trays to freeze your food then transfer the “cubes” to freezer bags for longer term storage. The bags can be labeled and stored in a removable bin for easy access.
Another method is to use the dollop method. Just like making cookies, drop your thickened puree on a lined cookie sheet and freeze them. After they are frozen place them in a bag for easy storage.
