Baby Crib Safety Tips
Do you want the side to Drop? I have got to say yes! If you are not 6 foot tall or better, you want the side(s) to drop down. Do both sides drop? Think about the space you have and how you want the crib placed in the room. Will you still be able to get at the side that drops down? How does the side drop?
If it involves a gyration to the left and a hop to the right, forget it. It won't get any easier while holding a sleeping baby.
Adjustable mattress height is available on most cribs. It allows the mattress to be higher so you can gently lay down a sleeping newborn, then lowered for babies who can turn over. If it has everything else in your price range, but is not adjustable consider buying it. Remember, it will not be long before you are dropping it down anyway.

Convertible baby cribs are attractive to buyers, but the added expense may not be worth it. Some are convertible to toddler beds, others to full-size adult beds. Most require an extra kit to be fully convertible; ask about the cost before you make your final decision. Also ask yourself whether you'll actually convert it or whether you'll reuse it for siblings and buy a separate toddler bed.
Large Baby stores have the largest selection of baby cribs in both price and style. They have a few models in stock, and must order others, which can take up to 12 weeks. Local baby shops carry premium brands at premium prices. They usually don't keep them in stock, so every one is a special order. Websites have a wide range of brands and models, but shipping might be pricey. If there's a problem, returning the item could be difficult. Be clear on return policies before you buy.
